
MICHAEL WOODFOLK

Michael J. Woodfolk is a dynamic executive with over 30 years of leadership in advancement, institutional development, and alumni engagement. A nationally respected fundraiser and relationship strategist, Michael has been President of the University of Virginia’s Darden School Foundation, where he and his team raised over $100 million and helped lead the institution through its two most successful capital campaigns. In close partnership with deans and school leaders, he has transformed under-engaged constituencies into active, invested communities, driving measurable gains in giving and governance.

His leadership journey began as the first head coach of the England National Developmental Lacrosse Team, a role he took on through a partnership between the National Lacrosse Foundation and the United Kingdom. Upon returning to the U.S., he joined St. Anne’s-Belfield School as a teacher, coach, and administrator—experiences that sparked his lifelong commitment to character development, student success, and inclusive excellence.
In addition to his legacy at St. Anne’s and Darden, Michael currently serves as a Venture Partner at Not Yet Ventures, helping lead investor relations and fundraising strategy for early-stage companies focused on AI, digital health, and student entrepreneurship. Michael holds a B.A. in History from Washington College, where he played in two NCAA Division III National Lacrosse Championship finals. He completed The Executive Program at UVA’s Darden School of Business in 2005. His board service includes Washington College, VPM Media Corporation, St. Anne’s-Belfield School, and the Boys and Girls Club. He also served as a mentor for the Harlem Lacrosse Club and has been honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from St. Anne’s-Belfield and the Distinguished Community Member Award from the Charlottesville Tribune.
